About this Journal
This is my outlet - safe in that I don't expect anyone I know IRL to read it. Don't expect anything exciting here, just boring day-to-day stuff.

So, I am posting for the first time in a year and a half. Hi, everyone! I have seen a couple of you elsewhere (blogger, ravelry). The blog I really use is on blogger, but I am going to use this one to keep up with what I'm working on and my to-do lists.

So my most recent stuff is here: http://www.me.com/gallery/#100050

So I am going to see how many papers I can write today. Whoopee! And on my 12th wedding anniversary to boot! Maybe I'll still get dinner out.

Is anyone still here from the original Nervousness days?

I called it "For Jasper Johns" because I used wax (some colored but mostly beeswax)and because of the row of body parts (bellies) at the bottom. It made me think of him. I think this is my favorite piece from this semester and one of the few pieces I've made that I really like.

You are Shetland Wool.
You are Shetland Wool.
You are a traditional sort who can sometimes be a
little on the harsh side. Though you look
delicate you are tough as nails and prone to
intricacies. Despite your acerbic ways you are
widely respected and even revered.

My lovely child, a little before her second birthday. Joe loves this picture because she's wearing a ballcap like he always does, tie dye, and she's making the face he usually makes when someone tries to take his picture.

It is going to kill our budget with me driving almost three hours a day three days a week when school starts back (grandma's to drop off the child, school, grandma's, home). Especially with gas prices where they are.

I'm not posting every day, but more than I was.

Nestlé is the target of a boycott in 20 countries because it aggressively markets baby foods, breaking World Health Assembly marketing requirements and contributing to the death and suffering of infants around the world.

As UNICEF has said:

"Marketing practices that undermine breastfeeding are potentially hazardous wherever they are pursued: in the developing world, WHO estimates that some 1.5 million children die each year because they are not adequately breastfed. These facts are not in dispute."

The whole site is pretty good. Your blood pressure will go up after poking around in there a bit.

...and since I forgot a link yesterday, here's a bonus. Neil Gaiman (one of my favorite authors) and Dave McKean (my favorite artist) teamed up with the Jim Henson Workshop to create Mirror Mask. Check out the trailer at the site:

Poke around here for a while:

and you'll see why. Read the story of Jordan Fogal here:

There's also a really good article in Mother Jones online, but you need a password to read the whole article. The password is available somewhere on the www.hobb.org page.

I keep having the urge to NOT post in my LJ. I am trying to rectify this. I have a collection of links, rants, and other information that I want to post. If I limit myself to one item daily, maybe this will help me get back into the swing of posting before school starts back.

So here's the first. Nothing too deep or outrageous. Just some people trying to inform the general public. And doing it in a creative way.
